ADAPTIVE SKIING

Oxygène is committed to making snowsports accessible to everyone. That’s why, for over 20 years, the school has been offering adaptive skiing lessons. Today, Oxygène is one of the leading providers of adaptive ski instruction, with lessons designed for both standing and seated skiers, whether they are discovering skiing for the first time or returning to the slopes.

Adaptive skiing is, above all, a unique and thrilling experience for both students and instructors.

GAIN INDEPENDENCE

We have the right equipment and the best teaching techniques to help you gain your independence on snow.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

We are confident we can offer you the best approach thanks to our knowledge of the equipment and local terrain, as well as our thousands of hours of teaching experience.

ADAPTIVE SKIING SPECIALISTS

We hold annual sit-ski training courses for our instructors covering the equipment, skiing technique and adaptive skiing teaching methods. Kind and patient, our instructors know the mountains by heart and have the understanding and experience to teach and accompany you.

Equipment adapted to your needs

We have a fleet of modern Tessier sit-skis including the Uniski and Dualski models with various seat sizes and outriggers. We also have helmets with radios available for partially sighted skiers. For more information, contact our teams in resort.

OUR ADAPTIVE SKIING DISCIPLINES

oxygene-sit-skiing

Sit skiing

Sit-skiing is for wheelchair users or people who have difficulty coordinating their lower limbs. We will accompany you on your journey to skiing independently using Tessier sit-ski equipment.

oxygene-piloted-sit-skiing

Piloted sit-skiing

Piloted sit-skiing is for people who are partially or totally dependent. The sit-ski is fitted with a bar for the instructor to ‘drive’ the sit-ski around the slopes. It offers all the sensations of skiing, and the skier can participate as much as they want or are able to. We can also train people to become sit-ski pilots.

Adaptive stand-up ski lesson with Oxygene

Stand up adaptive skiing

Stand up adaptive skiing is for anyone who has good coordination whilst holding themselves upright on one or two legs. Whether you are visually impaired, have hearing difficulties, are an amputee or partially paralysed, we can help you discover (or rediscover) the pleasure of skiing. We also have experience teaching children on the autism spectrum who may find group ski lessons overwhelming.

Tandem skiing

The Tandem’Flex sit-ski from Tessier makes sit-skiing a pleasurable experience for anyone who isn’t able or doesn’t want to ski on their own. Seated in a large, comfortable seat, let yourself be guided by your ‘driver’ and enjoy the thrill of sliding whilst taking in the spectacular mountain views.
