TRAINEE SKI INSTRUCTOR? 11 REASONS TO CHOOSE AN INTERNSHIP WITH OXYGENE

Are you a trainee ski instructor* looking for the best ski school to teach in whilst you complete your ski instructor qualification? Yes? Then, don’t just head to the first ski school you’ve heard of. There are plenty of reasons to work and train with Oxygene, just take a look…

1. First things first, a welcome present: your first Oxygene uniform

A ski instructor’s uniform is expensive (between €500-€800 depending on the school). To make your first year easier, we provide you with your first Oxygene uniform for free. So you’re already saving from the day you start.

2. An attractive rate of pay

By becoming a trainee instructor at Oxygene, you will benefit from a better hourly rate than you will find in other ski schools. It will also climb more quickly than in other schools in relation to how long you stay and the qualifications you acquire.

3. We distribute lessons fairly

At Oxygene, each instructor is allocated lessons in relation to their expertise and motivation and not simply as a result of being at the ski school for longer.

4. Your training is FREE!

Learn French, improve your knowledge and perfect your techniques (slalom, giant slalom, off-piste, snowpack reading, adaptive skiing and more) during the quieter periods of the season in January and March for free! Your instructor manager will be flexible, allowing you time off from teaching for you to train towards becoming fully qualified.

5. We help you find accommodation in resort

Your arrival in resort is made easy by Oxygene who will help you find affordable accommodation. Quentin, who qualified in 2018, joined Oxygene last winter. “I wanted a change of scene. My family and I moved here really easily. Oxygene helped me find a place to live, a place at the nursery for my daughter and even a job for my wife”.

6. We teach small groups

At Oxygene, group lessons are taught in small groups for reasons of student safety but also to facilitate your job. This means you can concentrate on your job of providing personalised exercises and advice to your students. “After teaching groups of 3-6 people, I don’t want to go back to teaching 12 people in a group,” says Jordan, trainee instructor with Oxygene in Megeve.

7. We offer you a variety of lessons

At Oxygene each instructor gets the chance to teach a variety of lessons; adult, children, group and private from beginner to expert (within legal limits). The variety of lessons guarantees you new learning experiences every day.

8. We have a team to support you

At Oxygene, everything is put in place to support you in your work. We have meeting point coordinators, snow garden helpers, instructor managers and supportive bookings teams as well as ski rooms close to the slopes, off-piste airbags available for you and your clients and more. All you have to do is concentrate on what you do best: passing on your passion for skiing to your students.

9. Professional equipment at low low prices

Need some new skis, an ABS bag for your off-piste test, a helmet or some goggles? We have relationships with the best brand and can order equipment on your behalf at the best prices.

10. We have resorts to suit every personality

Whether you prefer to be part of a large or small team, to party or to chill out, to have a long or short winter season, you’ll find the right resort with Oxygene. Our resorts include: Val d’Isere, La Plagne, Meribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, La Tania, Megeve and Courchevel.

One our our youngest instructors, Lorys, showed an aptitude for coaching and has been training future instructors in our Ski Academy programme in La Plagne for the last year.
