Serre Chevalier is the largest winter sports resort in the Southern Alps. The Serre Chevalier valley is located near the Italian border, between the Lautaret pass and Briançon. It is also the gateway to the Ecrins National Park, a protected paradise ideal for ski touring. With its 250 kilometers of slopes, Serre Chevalier has one of the largest ski areas in Europe. And this year, the resort turns 80 years old too! To celebrate this occasion, we have prepared a list of our favourite activities to do in Serre Chevalier.
1. Forget the hustle and bustle of the slopes, opt for ski touring instead
Ski touring is one of the flagship activities of Serre Chevalier, with routes for all levels (want to know more about ski touring? Click here). Whether you want to discover this super sport or take advantage of the best ski touring spots on the mountain, our Oxygène instructors will help guide you. We’re sure you’ll fall in love with ski touring with us!
2. Reveal your inner musher
Why not go on a dog sled ride and appreciate the landscapes offered by Serre Chevalier from another point of view. You’ll pass a great moment with the dog sled musher himself, who is there to answer questions and share his passion with you. You can opt for either a ride in the sled, or put yourself in the shoes of a true explorer, enjoy an introduction to driving a team of huskies yourself.
3. Fly over the slopes on a snowkite
Grab your skis or snowboard and enjoy the freedom of snowkiting in Serre Chevalier. A fun activity for beginners as well as experienced kiters looking for new sensations. Taking place at the Col du Lautaret, a well known spot for great snowkiting. Interested? Our instructors can help you with your own private snowkiting session…
4. Launch yourself on a giant zipline
For the thrill seeker! Set off on a zip wire between the Grand Serre (2,491 m) and the Grand Alpe (2,193 m) and enjoy a speedy descent of more than one kilometer, at 300 meters high! This is a unique experience to enjoy with exceptional views.
5. Rejuvenate yourself with a cross-country ski session
You can enjoy the mountains of Serre Chevalier while cross-country skiing from one to another. You’ll explore the many different hamlets in this region, each more charming than the other. Did you know Serre Chevalier offers 44 kilometers of Nordic ski slopes for all levels?
6. Enjoy the slopes by ski or snowboard
With 250 kilometers of piste to cover, 81 different slopes and sixty ski lifts, there’s plenty to make the most of this magnificent ski area. Children aged 3 to 12 will love skiing with Oxygene: cool instructors and super fun lessons. For older children, group ski or snowboard lessons are organised by level. All classes are limited to 6 participants to ensure a more personalised, fun, learning experience.
7. Take a break at the Grands Bains du Monêtier
After all these activities, why not take a little rest and, above all, take care of yourself? The natural hot water springs from the Grands Bains du Monêtier are full of benefits for the skin, body and soul. Between baths, massages, pools and other treatments, the hardest part will certainly be to choose…
